Programs & Services Update - Monday April 26th, 2021

Please find a listing of programs & services BGC Brantford is currently offering:

KIDDY KORNER DAYCARE - Toddler & Preschool Programs and BANBURY CHILD CARE - Preschool Program.

BGC Brantford has been authorized by the Ministry of Education to also provide Emergency Child Care for eligible Essential Workers of Kindergarten and School-Age Children.  For more information call Julee Farmer @ 519-752-2964 ext. 121

All Summer Day Camps, Summer Leader-in-Training and Before/After School (September 2021) programs are currently accepting registrations, however as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the ability to operate programs will be based on direction and guidelines provided by the Province of Ontario and our local health unit.

Programs & Services Update - Monday December 21st, 2020

We have received clarification from the Ministry of Education regarding our programs and services.
We will ONLY be offering Toddler and Preschool Programs in our licensed child care centres during the official lockdown period (Dec 26th - January 11th, 2021).
ALL Kindergarten (full day, before & after) and School-Age (full day, before & after) programs will not be operating during this period and/or until the end of the lockdown period.

Programs & Services Update - Tuesday July 21st, 2020

We re-opened our first program on Monday July 6th, 2020 - KIDDY KORNER DAYCARE!   We are operating at provincial COVID-19 capacity and within the infection control guidelines and restrictions very smoothly and successfully.  It's wonderful to see and hear smiling faces finally at one of our locations and to have the confidence from our families that we are providing the safest environment possible for their children AND providing a positive and impactful experience.

Although we have began operating on a much smaller scale, it is increasingly evident that revenues we rely on for our overall operations have been and will be seriously impacted in the coming months.  After careful analysis we recognize our need to reduce services.  It is vital that we plan for a tough economic future while continuing to operate within our current and anticipated resources.

As of today, it is our intention to move forward with the re-opening of our Banbury Childcare, Edge Street and Major Ballachey After School Care programs in September, however we are still awaiting direction and new guidelines/restrictions from several stakeholders and partners before we can determine exactly what our programs may look like and what we are capable of executing.

However, the re-opening of the Evening Recreation Drop-In Program will not resume in October as normal.  The Club has experienced a significant loss of revenue with the closure and cancellation of numerous programs over the past several months and we are also mindful that there could be further losses in revenue as our partners, supporters and stakeholders address the economic impacts the pandemic has had on them.

The Club will continue to monitor our financial health and well-being over the next several months and revisit the viability of re-opening the evening program in 2021.

We want to assure our community that our management team remains strong and committed to servicing the needs of our children, youth and families.  The Club continues to be strong in the face of some of the most difficult circumstances we have witnessed in our lifetime.  While the changes we are putting into effect are extraordinarily difficult and challenging for everyone impacted, our focus remains on doing what is necessary and vital to building a vibrant Club for the years to come.

Re:  COVID-19 - June 8th - Summer Camps Notification

Over the past several months, with hopeful optimism, we have continued to accept registrations for Camp Kummonanplay (Edge Street/School-Age/5-12yrs), and our Summer Leader-in-Training Program, with the clear understanding that there was no guarantee we would be able to operate until the Province of Ontario provided authorization & guidelines and our capacity to operate within those guidelines, new restrictions and expectations.
Although the Province has not made an announcement regarding the status of summer camps, last week they did issue operational guidelines. Some guidelines currently fall within the Club’s best practices, others are somewhat restrictive, but could be accommodated by the agency. A significant amount of the provincial operational guidelines would impact the Clubs resources, capacity to execute summer camp and the ability to provide a quality experience for our campers.
After extensive review and consideration, the Club has made the extremely difficult decision not to operate Camp Kummonanplay (Edge Street/School-Age/5-12yrs) and our Summer Leader-in-Training Program this summer. Like you, we are tired of sad news, not being with Club family and friends, the loss of routine & convenience and most importantly, tired of our inability to support and service our children, youth and families the way we want and need to.
Camp Cicadas (Kiddy Korner & Banbury – Kindergarten) are both licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act. The Province of Ontario has yet to provide authorization for the re-opening of centres or new operational guidelines as a result of COVID-19. Only until authorization and/or operational guidelines are received, will the Club be able to review and make a determination regarding the implementation of Camp Cicadas at both of our childcare locations.

Re: COVID-19 - March 26th @ 10:55am - Summer Camp and Before/After School Program Registration Update

We have had lots of inquiries regarding the registration process for Summer Camps and September Before/After School Programs as this has been currently suspended until further notice.
As we are both a provider of licensed child-care, school-age and recreation programs, we have been mandated by the Province of Ontario to be closed. Once we have received authorization and the ‘go-ahead’ to resume operations (and of course those timelines are currently unknown) we will ensure that an efficient and effective registration process is in place that will accommodate and meet all of our families needs.

UPDATE Re:  COVID-19 and Club Services - March 13th - 7:21pm

We have been paying close attention to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Although the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk as low for Canada, we are taking precautions and adjusting our approach to service delivery each day.
Yesterday the Province of Ontario announced that all publicly funded schools would be closed for the March Break and the two weeks directly thereafter (March 16th – April 5th, 2020). This announcement impacts a number of the programs and services currently being offered by the Club and the families we service.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors met this morning to assess and determine our immediate and short-term direction.
· All Before and After School Programs (Kindergarten & School-Age) will be cancelled until schools resume normal operations
· Evening Recreation Drop-In Programs will be cancelled until Monday April 6th, 2020
· Youth Mentorship Program will be cancelled until Monday April 6th, 2020
· Kiddy Korner Daycare will continue to operate Toddler, Preschool and the Kindergarten March Break program (March 16th – 20th, 2020)
· Kiddy Korner Daycare will continue to operate Toddler and Preschool Programs (March 23rd – April 3rd, 2020)
· Kiddy Korner Daycare will provide Kindergarten PA Day care (March 23rd – April 3rd) to ONLY THOSE CHILDREN WHO WERE REGISTERED FOR THE MARCH BREAK PROGRAM
· In the event a Club employee or participant of a Club program or service tests positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Kiddy Korner Daycare will be closed immediately
· Banbury Child Care Centre (Preschool, Kindergarten & School Age programs), based on notification received from the Grand Erie District School Board will NOT BE OPERATING OR PROVIDING SERVICES effective Monday March 16th to Friday April 3rd, 2020. See notification statement below.
Due to the government’s order for all publicly funded schools in Ontario to remain closed from March 14, 2020 to April 5, 2020 Grand Erie District School Board is closing all facilities to their partners, including CHILD CARE CENTRES, effective March 14 lasting until April 5, 2020 to keep our students, staff, families and community safe. We believe this action is in the best interests of the health of Ontarians.
Families will be issued credits for days in which they were registered for service, however but did not receive.
We are asking all parents to watch for signs of illness in their child(ren) and themselves (as per the Fact Sheet previously provided in correspondence), and if any signs are present to keep them or yourselves at home and seek guidance direction from Telehealth, Brant County Health Unit or their family physician.
Although these are the decisions the Club (and GEDSB) has made at this time, we are continuously monitoring the outbreak and the potential impact on the health and well-being of our children, youth, families and staff and these decisions could be altered or changed with little to no notice to our families.
As always, the safety and well-being of our Club members, participants and leaders is always our main priority.
